Mmmmmmm Potato Chips….. A very Homer Simpson-worthy snack indeed! For the most part, these delightful snacks have been off limits for those of us on the low sodium journey. Luckily many companies are coming out with reduced salt and low sodium options. I found these Potato Chips from Old Dutch at one of my local grocers.
Do you love a thicker rippled chip? These fit the bill. They are sturdy and would hold up to some dip. I dip them in my no sodium ranch dip (recipe here). To someone who has been on the low sodium path for a while, these will taste salty enough. My 3 kids all approved. If you are trying these after only recently going salt free, you may think they are bland. My wife who is more accustomed to saltier chips thought these barely had any salt flavor.
You can have 12-15 chips and stay at 60 mg of sodium
Old Dutch is sold at many grocers in the Upper Midwest of the United States and Canada. You can also find some of their flavors on Amazon if there is not a store local to your location. They can be found at www.olddutchfoods.com
Old Dutch has debuted a line they are labeling with a Snackwise Seal. Here is a description of what they are doing to provide healthier snack options:
