Can I Eat Low Sodium at Perkins
By a reader request, Perkins is the next restaurant to have their menu hacked. We want to know what things are on their menu that may be safe for us to eat on a low sodium diet. Perkins is a family restaurant with full breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus. Very similar to Denny’s. So there is a lot of hope that we can find several options that we can eat and stay low sodium at Perkins.
Perkins Family Restaurant & Bakery
Perkins isn’t just known for comfort diner food. They are known for their pies. I won’t include the desserts individually below, but if you want the pie, you need to stick with just that and a beverage. At 340 to 480 mg per slice of pie, it would put any full meal off the charts. We used the Perkins Nutrition Information found here.
When we talk about putting together a meal in any of these restaurant guides, we are always looking for a main, a side, and a beverage. We are also looking for something that we can eat and not go over 1/3rd of our daily sodium requirements. The USDA/FDA recommend no more than 2300 milligrams of sodium per day for a totally healthy person. The AHA and the Mayo Clinic recommend no more than 1500 mg of sodium per day for anyone with heart issues, high blood pressure, is a woman, is a person of color, or every one over the age of 50. You should have a daily requirement number that your doctor sets for you.
