Low Sodium Snack – Blue Diamond Lightly Salted Almonds
I am always on the lookout for a great low sodium snack. Prior to going low sodium, I loved all sorts of nuts, especially almonds. Smoked almonds, wasabi almonds, and sriracha spiced almonds were all favorites of mine, but they were typically off the charts with sodium. I was super excited to see that Blue Diamond now offers lightly salted almonds.
My Review of Blue Diamond Lightly Salted Almonds
I have been low sodium for years, so the lightly salted aspect of these almonds is perfect for my tastes. If you are just starting to go low sodium, it might not taste salty at all. These are great to try in a handful for a snack. 28 nuts in one serving for 40 mg of sodium.
I have sliced these almonds up to go on top of salads or in cookies. They are also great to crush up in a food processor to make almond butter or crushed up to make for a batter for chicken or fish. the crushed nuts and a little panko bread crumbs make a light crispy crust for a perfect Eggplant Parmesan or Chicken Piccata.
The popular opinion among researchers is that almonds are very beneficial to heart health. The oils and fats that almonds contain are unsaturated or “healthy” fats. Which experts attribute to lowering bad cholesterol and raising good cholesterol.

Nuts in general (without salt) are a great snack food, though calories MIGHT be a consideration. I like the unsalted Costco mixed nuts with ZERO sodium. They also have zero salt almonds, I think.
If you have no problem with the potassium chloride “No Salt” substitute (check with your doctor!!), you can ‘salt’ these nuts before ingesting. I salt them right in the can (shake it up for the distribution of the salt).
Like all things….moderation is the key!
