Lum Taylors Low Sodium Barbecue Sauce

We are heading into grilling season again. Thoughts of chicken, ribs, brisket, and pork on the grill has me excited. What has me even more excited is that I have found another pre-bottled BBQ sauce that works in our low sodium lifestyle.
Here is my review of Lum Taylor’s Low Sodium Barbecue Sauce.
I found Lum Taylor’s for the first time on the Healthy Heart Market Website. When you order from Healthy Heart Market, make sure you enter the code: HackingSalt10 at checkout to receive a 10% on your order. It is the same place I first heard about the Sodium Free BBQ sauce that Mr. Spice makes. My review of that sauce is here.
If you have the time and energy, I have both a recipe for a Texas-style BBQ Rub and BBQ Sauce if you want to make from scratch that is quite good (If I do say so myself).
Lum Taylors Low Sodium Barbecue Sauce is 15 mg per oz.
The Lum Taylor’s low sodium barbecue sauce is a sauce that is done in more of a Missouri or Mississippi Style. Lum’s sauce has a “ketchup” type base, but is sweetened with honey as opposed to sorghum or molasses like a Texas-style sauce. This is a sweeter sauce, so if you are looking for a spicier sauce, this may not be for you.
The sweeter profile instantly lead me to use this sauce on chicken. I put 8 fresh chicken breasts in my crock pot and poured in 1/2 of the bottle. I let it cook low and slow for 6 hours on low heat. Then I used two forks to shred it. The pulled BBQ chicken was outstanding on a low sodium King’s Hawaiian Hamburger bun. Talk about the taste of summer in a sandwich! This sauce would also be really good on pork chops, chicken wings, or salmon.
So to sum it up, if a sweet BBQ sauce is what you love, Lum Taylor’s is it!
